Happy New Year!

Greetings!
I just want to wish you all a very Happy, and Safe New Year!
Here's something I played around with the other night when I was waiting for my pic's to upload.....had fun with my Watercolour crayons and aquapainter. This is one of the new Sellabration sets that you can get free during Stampin' Up!'s annual promotion - Sell-A-Bration - on during Januray and February.
Take care, and have a great, fun night!
Stampingly yours,
Kerry
update: I did use black stazon and then coloured in with my WWcrayons. I stamped on a card size canvas I found at the local dollar store. Since posting I also used my air art tool again and added some pink splatter and it lightened it up....original looks dirty to me :(

Christmas Day Pic's

Hello there friends!
Here are a couple of pic's from yesterday. The left hand photo is the girls just after coming downstairs and finding the gift that Santa left them.....and the right hand pic is the girls with their cousin Micah. He is 7 1/2 months now.
Do you have any jobs that you procrastinate on??? Well I have many but last night after the girls in bed I wasn't sure what I felt like doing (not much as I was exhausted) but Chris was busy with water changes in his fish tank so I started the big job of send my pic's to get processed. Now to some of you that might not mean much but i'm sad to say I have never really had mine processed.......since 2004!!!! So last night I uploaded pic's for 2004 and 2005 and already my hubby picked them up today! Now I have no excuse for not scrapbooking LOL..... It was fun to look back though and see how much the girls have grown in these few years. No more babies around here that's for sure!
Anyway I'm going to tackle more of the pic's as Superstore has a special on this week - order 100 and get 50 free or something like that....I think I got 350 pic's today :)
For my Amercian gals that read my blog we have an annual tradition here in Canada called 'Boxing Day'. My cousin from England actually informed me of the history last night which I found interesting.....do any of my Canadian friends know how it originated? OK, here is what she say's.....years ago (before 1945) well to do families had hired help. The help would have lots of prep in getting ready for Christmas, and then would have to work on Christmas day to ensure everyone had their food and the house was clean etc.....no time off for them! Well the day after Christmas the head of the home would present a 'box of something' a gift to their help as a gesture of thank you. The help would also get that day off as a break. So it was a day to give boxes to people that did service for you....garbage men, mail men etc...as well. Not sure how it turned into a huge Sale day here in Canada but that's the history as much as I know.
OK, onto my story of Chris's great deal...he got a portable dvd player - regular $299 for $49! I just bought some Christmas stuff at 50% but nothing exciting this year. With the 3 girls it wasn't like I was going to tackle the malls today! (chris worked).
Did anyone get anything they'd like to share! I love hearing about a great deal!
Wow, long post today.....must be making up for not posting much this week....
Take care,
Kerry

Merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful day. Our girls were up at 6am but we held off going downstairs until 7am.....what a sight, the wonder and excitement in their eyes was priceless. I just wanted to freeze time and cherish that moment. All 3 girls are the perfect age to enjoy the magic of Santa....

We don't focus on Santa though as they know that the true meaning is celebrating our Saviour's Birth. What an awesome gift He was. May you find Peace and Joy that He can truly bring.

Best Wishes and Happy Stampin' in 2007! I'll upload some pic's later tonight once the kiddies are in bed.

Off to my parents for Christmas dinner - YUMMM.

Making cookies

Season's Greetings!
Well i'm feeling like everything is finally winding down....if its not done now its not going to get done. I stayed up until 2am last night wrapping gifts and i'm done :)
Kylie and I made Shortbread cookies today to give to our neighbours. She loved helping roll the balls. The older 2 girls were at choir practice as tomorrow is their Christmas pageant. Megan is singing a duet with a girl in Grade 5 so looking forward to hearing her. Chris is working tomorrow but will be home in time for us to go the the Christmas Eve service at our church at 4pm. Then we have our own family tradition where we have Chinese Food for dinner, read the Christmas story in the bible and then the girls can open one gift each. Tomorrow night is pretty well the easiest night ever to get the girls to bed as they know Santa won't come unless they're asleep so they go to bed like a charm! I think I might even be more excited than them.....I love seeing their faces when we go downstairs and they see everything!
What traditions does your family have for Christmas Eve? I would love to hear them.
Merry Christmas everyone!

recycled Christmas card ideas

Recycle your Christmas cards
Greeting Card Crafts and ActivitiesAfter Christmas, or any occasion, what do you do with all the beautiful greeting cards you receive? Do you pack them away? Do you throw them away?Forget those ideas and recycle those used greeting cards! Here are some ideas to get you started. Can you think of others?

Bookmarks - Create unique bookmarks with pictures cut from old greeting cards.

Gift Tags - Be prepared with fancy, home-made gift tags.

Greeting Cards - Transform old greeting cards into new ones!

Lacing Toy - Make fun lacing cards for the younger kids.

Ornaments - Trim your holiday tree with these simple ornaments.

Place Mats - These decorations can be made from a handful of old greeting cards.

Storage Box - Use decoupage techniques to create this fun box.

I got these ideas from a link of SCS....can you think of any other ideas you do with old cards? I tried the lacing toy for Kylie yesterday and it was great! Gave me a few moments to work on my Christmas cards (most finished, thankfully now).....

Soooo leave a comment if you can think of any other ideas....would love to hear them!

Will post a pic later,
Kerry

Very Punny

hi y'all!
Have I mentioned lately how much I love the New Sellabration sets that are available Jan 1st to Feb 28th!!! This is my first card i've made with the set 'Very Punny'.....It was fun using this cute little ladybug. I used some ribbon from Prep School. Punched the cranberry out of my new Mega Scalloped square punch, put little white dots with my gel pen. Did some doodling with my black marker around the edges of the white square as it needed something. Lastly used my word window punch and adhered it to the c/s with mellow moss eyelets. OH, forgot that the Not Quite navy c/s has Canvas stamped on it with the same colour ink....subtle.
Hope you enjoy it, I had alot of fun making it!

Lunch Box tin

Good Evening friends!

What a wonderful evening stamping! I was hoping the girls would go to bed well and they all did so that left me with some stampin' time! (hubby is at work). I finally was able to get to this cute little tin I"ve had for a month or so.

I used the new Enchante designer paper from the Winter Mini Catalog. (www.stampinup.com) I thought I would Modge Podge it but ended up using lots of Sticky strip instead. (double sided tape) Having the 2 sided paper is so nice as everything coordinates so well. I also used a On Board Simon tag that I trimmed down a bit as it was quite long. I covered the whole tin and i'll add another picture showing the top angle. Another thing I did was run some of the ribbon that was too bright thru my Creamy Caramel ink pad to tone it down a bit.....made it more elegant looking I think.....what do you think?

HOpe you enjoy it, its fun making new things.

Happy Stampin'

Samples from Tag Class

Greetings!
Tonight we had our girls Christmas concert at their school. Megan was Rudolph in her Grade 1 program and Mikayla's class sang 3 songs. One of them was Silent Night which I thought was really neat to hear in the Public School System. There's been such a push to remove God from the school system that it was so refreshing to hear Christmas carols again. No 'Winter Holiday' program like in years past. YIPEE for the change!
On another note here is a sample of some of the tags that we made at my tag class. It was a super evening as it was one of the few times I could sit right along side everyone and stamp too! The 'JOY' snowflake tag has Dazzling Diamonds on it but its hard to make out - got that idea from SCS. The little tree on the Riveting tag is popped out, again hard to tell in the scan.
WOW, hard to believe only 11 days until Christmas! I have still so much to do.....what about you?
Have a great evening everyone,
Happy Stampin'

Lynn's Christmas card

Great mail day! Got the Sellabration Mini catalog - which I must say is loaded with 6 GREAT Sellabration sets this year! Also received this beautiufl Christmas card from Lynn F. Isn't it elegant! I love how she made a wreath out of various snowflake stamps! Thank you Lynn!

Off to get the older girls at school....

Have a super evening,

Greetings!

Well i'm in the midst of a windstorm but its dying down so that's good. No power outage so that's good!

Here's a frame I made for my friend and downline, Lynn for her milestone bday last week. I got her permission to upload it....I used the Level 1 hostess set Friends and Flowers and modge podged the wood frame. I love the colours of this Simply Scrappin' kit!

We had a FABULOUS time at our Christmas party last night. 7 gals were able to make it in my firstline and we did a shoebox swap, (beautiful by the way, i'll upload them as they are too good not to share), They also made this mini coaster book

We also had appy's and the most awesome, homemade white chocolate, milk chocolate cheesecake that Janet made - YUMMMMMMMMMMMMY!

Here's the Joy Fold card that Janet brought as her shoebox swap! I loved the White Crayon Resist technique that she used! The other swaps are under my NEW photobucket slide show that my friend Cindy thankfully shared on her blog www.imagine-dream-create.blogspot.com THANK YOU!

Off to work on my Christmas cards,
Have a great night,
Kerry

New Sellabration Set

Hello there,

Well I feel like i'm getting back into the land of the living! Made another visit to the Walk in last evening and now Megan has a double ear infection too...so 3 out of 5 of us in our household are on antibiotics! What a week but thankfully we're all on the mend now.

Here's a card I made quickly today that was going to be my shoebox swap for tomorrow but when Chris said it looked like Mikayla had made it I quickly veto'd it...now back to the drawing board. I based it on the Inspiration Sheet - Sweet Shapes. Total Case except used the new Delight in Life set which is available free during Sellabration starting Jan 1, 2007. (the flower and frame are raised using dimensionals which is hard tell in a scan)

Doing mounds of laundry today too since I was out of commission for a few days....

Enjoy,
Kerry

Glenda's tree fold card

Hello everyone!

Here is a wonderful card I got in the mail this week from a fellow demonstrator in Bartlett, Illinois - Glenda Travelstead! Thank you so much Glenda as it really brightened my day! As some of you may know I have bronchitis, strep throat and to top it off - the flu!!! Yesterday was by the far the worst day and i'm on med's now so today is way better! Still no voice (my kids are happy) but i'm feeling much better. My hubby even said "wow, you must be sick as you have an unopened box from UPS still in your stampin' room!" that was yesterday and just now I have opened it and its my preorder of my Sellabration stamp sets!!!! YIPPEEE. Can't wait to get them mounted so I can play with them.

For those of you in my first line I'm going ahead with my Christmas party scheduled for this sunday. By then i'll have been on my med's for 4 days (out of 7) and won't be contagious and will be feeling better, i'm sure!

Thanks for looking,
Kerry

Window Sheet overlay

Missed me? I'm sorry for being absent...its been such a crazy week! Won't bore you with the details...I'll just talk about fun things like Stampin'!

Here's a card I made this past summer. It was first my try at using a window sheet to make an overlay. Stamped a bunch of Birthday saying's on it and layed it over the card. I recommend using Stazon though on the window sheets as its dries alot quicker and doesn't smudge.

I have my tag making class here this thursday and then I'm really excited about my First Level downline Christmas party this sunday at my house! We're doing a shoe box swap and also i'm going to provide the make n take of a chipboard coaster mini book. Lots of food, friends and fellowship (and of course stampin') what could be better than that?

After that I'm taking a break for a few weeks from the business side of stampin' and concentrating on getting my Christmas cards done (and started) and also some gifty type things I want to create done. I have the cutest little tins from my local scrapbooking store that I want to decorate and fill with cards for my mom for Christmas.

My Mystery Hostess Event ended last night and it was a huge success! Thank you to everyone that participated. I had a whopping 8 prizes to draw for and was so happy to let the gals know that won! 4 free hostess sets and the Free merchandice was broken up into 4 amounts so there were more winners....

Hope everyone is staying warm and cozy and not going too crazy with the Christmas rush yet...

Take care,
Kerry

p.s. made a cute gift but can't upload it until I've actually given it to my friend..don't want her to see it here first! Will upload later this week.

Joy Fold card - Misting technique

Good evening,

Well the kids had school after all....boy was it a good workout pushing our jogger stroller thru that thick, wet snow! Uphill on the way to school, then thankfully downhill coming home....did it 2x, plus shoveled for an hour! I'm sure i'll feeling those muscles tomorrow!

Here is one of my favourite cards that I made quite a few months ago with my clubs. It is a Joy Fold card and we used the misting technique. Worked perfectly with the Roses in Winter stamp set. I thought it might be a nice change from Christmas cards having this on my blog today. I'm going to spend the evening with my hubby so no stampin' tonight!

Have a great night!

Chipboard Coaster Mini book

Hi there!

Wow, its almost midnight! I can't believe it! I was so excited as I just finished my first chipboard coaster mini book. I was inspired to try it as Beate on SCS gave a wonderful tutorial here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/coasterminibook.php so I had to try it! I even was able to nab some coasters at Red Robin restaurant a few days ago so I was ready to go. I used a flower chipboard from On Board Accents and also the new stamp set Sweet on You from the new Winter Mini catalog (available Dec 1st). I love the new designer 2 sided paper from the Winter Mini as well called Loves Me....worked perfect for this gift i'm going to give my hubby for Valentines Day. I'm planning on journalling special things I love about him in it.

On another note the snow is just falling again! Looks like school will be closed yet again. Wouldn't you know it that Friday is a scheduled day off already so that makes a total of 4 hours of school this week since today was early dismassal due to Parent/ Teacher interviews......girls are sad as they miss school and their friends.

Hope you're all staying safe and getting some stampin' done!

Looking forward to teaching this as a class in the New Year.

Since I decided to remove my slideshow with the artwork that has been shared by my customers I thought i'd post some now....I have approval from all the gals that have submitted to me. (thank you Lori, Chris, Amy and Annette!) Thank you for sharing and keep it up, I love to see what everyone has been creating at home!

Thyme Love Notes and SNOW

Greetings on this freezing cold night! (with windchill its -18 degrees)

Here is a wee card I made with my clubs this month. We used the Thyme love notes out of the Holiday Mini catalog. (ends Nov 30th) I dry embossed the circle under the snowflake..not sure if you can make that out. (also did that on the envie too) Used one of my favourite sets - Happy Everything and lastly used my paper piecer and punched a fine line of holes - love that look! Was inspired for this card by the many variations on SCS...

BRRRRRRR...here's a pic of Mikayla and Megan this afternoon in our backyard. They had so much fun but it was shortlived as they didn't last too long out there in the bitter cold! We're getting a blistery arctic wind here which adds to the windchill....(I know everyone is chuckling as its nothing to what you're all used to in other areas of N. America)....go ahead and laugh! Us wimps in Lower Mainland, British Columbia aren't used to weather like this! Rain yes, snow no.....It sure is beautiful though! Today the girls were happy as school was closed..not sure what's happening for tomorrow yet....

Soooo to my friends that are going thru this too, stay safe and warm! Good excuse to stay inside and STAMP!!!

Thanks for peeking,
Kerry

White Crayon Resist card

Hello there!!!
Finally having a moment to upload a card that I had made last year! I've been busy prepping for 2 clubs this week and don't want to upload those yet, until next week so found this card that I liked.
Its using Lovely as a Tree and the technique White Crayon Resist. I stamped the trees on glossy cardstock with Hunter Green. Dried using heat gun. Then with my China White marker (instead of a white crayon which break easily) I outline the brances and ground of the tree....Then you pounce over the whole thing with Amythyst classic ink....(OH, before doing that make a mask of the moon and stick it down...then pounce with the ink)....Once don't wipe whole thing with a kleenex to remove the white crayon residue...Voila!!!
I love this technique and its easy and mess free to do! Try it, you'll like it :)

On another note we lugged all our Christmas totes in the house today so I've been busy decorating my house for Christmas! I love this time of year..getting it all out with my girls (and hubby)....

Have a great day,
Kerry

slideshow gone

hi there,

Well i'm sad to say that I've removed my slide shows...
It came to my attention that if you clicked on the slideshow that an area came up that said 'check out these great sites'....and there was often undesirable sites mentioned....I don't want that associated with myself or my business soooo I deleted them.

Will have to upload your cards now in my main post area now :)

Hubby is out watching the Grey Cup, he took the younger 2 girls as my mom is there. My oldest is at a bday party so I have the house to myself! Peace and quiet...no noise, its wonderful!

Off to check out SCS for the remainder of my time,

Kerry

Viewfinder card

Good Morning,
Well I am so excited as today the girls and I have NOTHING planned! Needless to say i'm still in my pj's and loving it!
Here is my first attempt at a Viewfinder card that I made last night - starting at 10pm! Got the stampin' bug late last night...
I'm thinking of doing this card with one of my upcoming clubs - its the last one of their 2nd year so I know they can do it....just wondering how they would like it since its a bit complicated....As you spin it around in the window it says : friend, sister, daughter and mother. I'm going to give this to my sister in January for her bday...
It was alot of fun once I made sense of the directions and I look forward to making more.
I used the All About U set and Floral background. Rose Red, Choc Chip, Close to Cocoa and Mellow Moss c/s. Sponged Choc Chip around the edges...

Hope you have a great day!

What a STORM!

Hello there!
WOW, we had a wicked wind/rain storm yesterday! I had slept over at my Mother in Law's the night before last to help take her to an app't that was yesterday morning..and boy did we wake up to alot of rain and wind! Stayed with her until around 3pm and then slowly made my way home along the freeway! Slowed to a crawl at one point as there was a huge tree that had fallen blocking the slow lane so we all had to merge. I felt like my van was going to be swept away but white knuckled it home to find our power was out. Picked up my other 2 girls at their playdate and made my way home...As dark was approaching I got all the candles and flashlights ready..girls in their PJ's etc.....after our yummy dinner of PB&jam we got out the craft/stampin' supplies and craft'd by candlelight!!! I've included the projects I made last night.... One of them is a candy pouch holder (the blue one)....and the other 2 are 2,4,6,8 Boxes...I used my new set - The Snowflake Spot and added some 'bling' stickers I had...(hard to make out in the pic)....also used my uno signa white gel pen and added white dots to fill in the background.

It was actually a very special time with my girls...so quiet and peaceful.

Let me know what your experience was....I hope everyone is ok.

Kerry

Good Morning!

Well not so good around here as my whole family has a rotten cold. Sooo I found a nice, bright, cheery card among my samples i've made and decided to load that. Its using Basket Full of Fun which is a Level 3 Hostess Set. I used Watercolour Crayons and an Aqua Painter and coloured it in. Bashful Blue, Pixie Pink and Barely Banana are the cardstock colours. Tied with a bit of Celery grosgrain ribbon.

Hope you find something to brighten your day today. Just a peek of sunshine would sure brighten mine!

Oh, one good thing is that last night I started doing a 'clean sweep' of my stampin' room. I have so many old magazines that i've kept - old Creating Keepsakes, Paper Krafts etc...also old Stampin' Success's from Stampin' Up! I never go thru them anymore so i'm going to skim thru them and give away old ones. If anyone is interested in them let me know. Shipping could get costly as I'm in Canada but i'm open. If you're local you could just come by and pick them up.

Off to get the girls to school...I usually walk but today is a driving day! (and stay in the car day)....I look like Rudolph LOL.

Talk soon,
Kerry

Hi there,

Here's a card we did at my Stamp a Stack last week...Used Snow Flurries with White Craft pad...A strip of Holiday Thyme paper with the wide organdy white ribbon over top. One of my very first stamp sets - Tag Time was used....the little snowman. Not sure if you can tell but I put Dazzling Diamonds on the base of the snowman. The gals used blender pens and ink to colour the snowman in....All this on Night of Navy cardstock.

That's about it,
Kerry

Hey there,

Here is a card that we did at my stamp a stack class this past monday. I totally got the idea from Billiekins at SCS...the only change is that I used my 2 way glue pen and sprinkled dazzling diamonds on the large tree. Everything looks better with a little sparkle right???

I really have enjoyed having a Coluzzle cutting system. I can't believe its taken me 4 years to purchase one! I can make circles and ovals now so easy.

2 of my good friends from our kids school gave me 2 cards that they made together. I uploaded them under 'Art from You' on the left hand side. They used the rock n roll technique, cracked glass technique and Joy Fold card! Glad that Lori, from my club is using what she learns! Way to go, keep sharing!

Good Day!

Thought I'd share some artwork that I made a month or so ago...I got the inspiration from my friend, and fellow SU demo - Sarah Froese. I bought these wooden frames at Michaels and decorated them with our Decorative Paper - the line I used is Recollections by Stampin' Up! I attached some brown grosgrain, burgundy grosgrain and some stitched cranberry too. Lastly stamped and mounted some Hodgepodge Hardware..snipped the end of the brads off before adhering and used glue dots to adhere the hardware....

These make a wonderful gift for the holidays, and i'm planning on making a few more to give away to Grandparents!!
The pic is hard to make out but its of my oldest and youngest in Disneyland this past April, 2006.

Have a great night,
Kerry

Stamp a Stack

Here is one of the cards we made at my Christmas Stamp A Stack class tonight.

The tree is from Loads of Love and coloured with the 'Poppin' Pastels' technique. You stamp in versamark ink and then with a cotton ball or dauber you rub the Stampin' Up Pastels over it lightly...(chalk). We used the Twinkle wheel with Mellow Moss ink cartridge. Colours of c/s are whisper white, real red, chocolate chip and then finally all matted on Mellow Moss. Finished off with the 'Merry Christmas' from Loads of Love as well.

Will upload the other cards in the next few days as well so stay tuned :)

Stay dry fellow British Columbians, its nasty out there!

Club Night last night

Hello,

Last night was our last club night for some of my customers...I can't believe how quickly the last 10 months have gone! We made the tree fold card from the previous post and this card using Heat and Stick Powder! It was a fun night as usual and I'm sad to see this club ending...Thankfully most of them are able to return to a new club starting in January! Just in time for Sellabration!!!
I've made a slide show on the left of the screen of some artwork that some of my club members brought last night! Aren't they a talented bunch of gals???

Here is a Tree Fold card that I made last night. The shimmery gold cardstock looks really pretty and adds a festive look to the Christmas card.
Here are the directions:
These are the directions:

There are 4 squares of designer paper (and a little piece for the
trunk). The sizes of the squares are 1 1/2, 2, 2 1/2 and 3 inches.
Using your bone folder (sharp creases work best) fold the square in
half into a rectangle both ways so you have what looks like 4 squares.
Then fold into a triangle both ways -- so it's folded in half both
ways! (So it is folded in half every way it can be folded.) Then fold
back into a rectangle -- holding the paper with the fold on the top,
push in the sides to make a triangle. Take the two corners from the
top triangle and fold them to the center fold until they meet at the
crease line.....
Then layer them on cardstock to form the tree!

Happy folding,

Enjoy
Kerry

My kids last night

We had alot of fun going around our neighbourhood last night. We only had around 50 children but in other streets in our neighbourhood they were getting upwards of 200 children!!!

Enjoy all that candy everyone!

Well its that time of year again....Halloween! The girls were so excited today as they get to wear orange or black instead of their uniforms!
Here is a scrapbook page that I have done at my October workshops this month. The border of faces is done with Versamark and then clear embossing powder. I used Carved and Candlit which is a very versatile set. It can either be for Thanksgiving or Halloween....whatever you want!

Safe Trick or Treating!!!

Well here it goes!
