Letterpress Plates

Hi
Here is one of the projects made at club in November. Its an awful picture..sorry about that! Its a quick gift to make if you need one in a hurry. The letterpress plate was used with Old Olive craft ink. It makes a debossed image...pressed 'in', instead of the embossing plates/folders that raise the paper. Stay tuned, more to share coming up!

decorated tin

Hello,
I have a non-stamping related craft to share today. There are so many opportunities for the home-schooled child I have found. One morning last week we went to another home-schooled family's house and the mom taught a few girls how to make these decorated cookie tins. See what Megan made! (with some help from her mom) Cute I"d say!

Countdown is on, yippee!

Finding our perfect tree

Seasons Greetings!
Here are a few pic's of us last sunday getting our Christmas tree. We knew the rain was coming so went a bit earlier then some years past. It is VERY hard to get a picture with all 4 looking as Jacob is a little monkey :) What can you expect for a 2yr old though....Such a beautiful day it was, we had hot chocolate there and then came home and decorated. Love family days.

Groupon is coming local!

hello!!
Do you want to save $$? Well I came accross this great site called 'Groupon'. Up until now the coupons were mostly good for the Vancouver area, (they are alos all over N. America I believe) but they announced today that they are going to be offering Groupons to the Abbotsford area!!! Each day thru your email acc't a special deal will be emailed. I've taken advantage of it once a few weeks ago...(remember up until now they've mostly been located in Vancouver so I never bought any). I bought the Body Shop Groupon - get a $40 voucher for $20. Great as this time of year I always buy a few things there anyway. Everything went smoothly, and I've already spent it. If you want to sign up, its FREE and you can click here to check it out: http://www.groupon.com/r/uu11496294 My friend in the past has used a 'Gap' Groupon as well.....there are some great deals to be had! Happy Shopping!

Christmas card class for November

Greetings!!! I find it hard to believe that I'm finished with yearly Christmas cards for another year! Seems just like yesterday I was starting them in August...in MUCH warmer weather!

Here are the 2 cards the ladies made in November 5 of each. Both ideas I found online.

I love the frosted technique - ran the medium acetate with petals a plenty and you rub the sanding block over...

Isn't this folded tree super cute?

For both cards we used the Holly Jolly dsp.

September Christmas cards

Hi!

Well i'm on a roll here, aren't I? Here are the Christmas cards that were made in September. Again, the ladies made 5 of each.
She snowflake is made using the Northern Flurry die with silver cardstock. Also silver embossing on some snowflakes too.

The other card has glitter faintly on it. You take a small spray bottle and fill with Rubbing Alchohol and then put 6 - 7 drops of Shimmer Paint. Shake and spray and voila - shimmer paper! so pretty...you can never go wrong with glitter, that's all I'm gonna say!

Faith Girlz

November 6th I had the honour of taking my 2 oldest girls (tweens) to a Faith Girls conferance. It was such an amazing day and I loved having such great discussion with them! No little brother and sister interupting! Here is the website which I highly recommend! It was just accross the border so after the conferance we enjoyed a bit of shopping and a dinner out. Such special times.
Here is a picture with Nancy Rue who has authored many amazing books - both fiction and non fiction for the girls tween age group! She was a great speaker and my girls really related to her well. She has such a heart for her 'mini women' as she calls them!

October Christmas cards

Hello!
Every year I start holding my Christmas card classes in August. Since I havn't blogged I have lots to share in the upcoming days. Here are the 2 cards the ladies made in October - they make 5 of each. I really liked the idea of using the lattice die for the Big Shot as a stencil. I sponged Crumb cake over the stencil on Whisper White cardstock.
The bell was colouring in with ink and blender pens.

Thanks for stopping by!

Fall Fair

Hello!

One of the yearly traditions at my kids elementary school is the annual Fall Fair for grade 2's. I've gone thru this 2x already and now it was Kylie's turn. Since she is a SU demo in the making she chose to make Fall cards. She had a blast, and she would disappear into my craft room and make the cards herself. She had fun gold embossing (was very wow'd) and I helped her with the Joseph's Coat card. Other then that she did it herself! I love how my love of all things arts and crafts has passed onto her.

Thanks for stopping by!

I'm back

Well hello out there! What can I say...its been a lonnnnnng time! All I have to say is life got busy and something had to give. Blogging was one thing that went to the wayside. I hope you understand.
Enough of that! I look forward to sharing what I've been stamping!

Here are my 2 club projects that we made in October. I just loved the tealight cake samples I saw online so when I saw the tealights (battery) at Costco in September I snatched them up, in anticipation of making them! I love how easy it is, and my girls especially have really liked this project.

The card we made used the reflection technique. An oldie but a goodie in my opinion. One of my favourite cards I have made was years ago and used this technique and Lovely as a Tree....

Its hard to make out but there is Dazzling Diamonds on the trees in the foreground. I loved this card sample when I came accross it online.

Thanks for your patience and I hope to be blogging more often now again.

kid bday card

Hello,
Y'know when you pick up something cheap meaning to use it for a great project you have in mind..and then if you're like me it gets stashed and long forgotten.....welllllll here is my project - finally done. Last August when we were down in Bellingham they had such SUPER cheap prices on back to school items. I think I paid .25 cents for this pkg of crayons. Anyway I scooped up quite a few with the intent to make cards like this one I just made tonight. Its a quick way to make a bday card as you use an outline stamp set for the child to colour in themself! Include a new pkg of crayons and you're done! Neat idea eh?

Thanks for stopping by!

p.s don't forget to RSVP for my New Catalog Kick Off party which is coming up July 6th. 7 - 9pm. LOTS of retired product at amazing deals, prizes, make n' takes and food.

p.s.s I used some new daffodil delight cardstock partnered with Melon Mambo and Tempting Turqoise. Got this colour combo from my new Colour Coach. I LOVE IT!

tea holder

Howdy,
Here's the last of my June club projects. Its a tea bag holder or even a gift card holder as well.....I googled a real peacock and used the chalks to resemble the peacock colours.....Using the Presto Designer paper I sponged versamark over it first, then rubbed the chalks (pastels) over it till you could see the pattern come thru....

wood sheets

Happy Summer!
Here's another project made in my June clubs. If a Father's Day sentiment wasn't needed I had others available. I am so happy the Wood Sheets made it back into the new Catalog....sometimes they are just the look that will complete a card. This layout is quite simple but for a masculin card I think that's the way to go.....the wood just adds that little touch, don't ya think?
This card is now going to my Dad for Father's Day but he's away for another week....

Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Hello,
Another event is checked off the calender done! WOW only a few more days left of school!!!

As head of the Staff Appreciation committee at my girls elementary school I try to come up with unique ideas each year for the wrap up luncheon. This year for the luncheon we did Chicken Ceasar wraps. Thankfully I have a wonderful group of mom's that help out! I was in charge of the 'meat' so Chris BBQ'd around 16 chicken breasts, then I cut them up in strips and put them in my crock pot so they'd stay warm. The others mom's brought the salads, desserts, wraps, drinks and veggie platter. It went really well of which i'm thankful...always a relief when its done as I worry something might go wrong. Phew :)

I also had 3 mom's come over one day last week and we made 30 of these little holders for a lottery ticket. I've heard one teacher won $2 so I guess no one is quitting their teaching job :)

Stay tuned as I have some more posts planned!!!!

Joy Fold card

Here's one of the cards the gals in my 3 clubs made in June. I love how the Joy Fold cards open....the 'sparkle' tag holds the front flap closed. Using one of my fav colour combo's which retired - ruby red and cameo coral. Also the Presto designer paper - with both those colours sponged over. This makes the word's 'pop'.

I'm still around!

Are you shocked?
Yes, I"m still around...I can't believe the date of my last post! Where have the last few months gone? I'm sorry but my blog had to take a back seat as I adjusted to homeschooling my middle daughter. I pulled her out of public school mid-april. (notice the how the dates coincide...)
Anyway its been a great move for her, but has added another hat to my list of hats...

I'm excited to get back on here though....so hope you continue to visit!

Here is a card I made tonight for Kylie's teacher. I was asked to make a card for the kiddies to sign as we're doing a group gift for her teacher. I liked a card that Angela McKay made on SCS so followed her example..just changing my DSP.

More to come,
Kerry

great storage idea!

Hi,
While blog surfing the other day I came accross this wonderful idea for sponge storage! For each colour sponge staple the matching cardstock onto it. I used the wonderful tab punch which worked perfectly! Now I know which sponge to grab, and I don't have to keep making a new one, which saves me $$. Gotta love that :)

Now, go organize :)

Mag case

Hi again!
One of the many things I love about being a SU demo is our monthly magazine we get. It is chock full of ideas, techniques, art projects etc....
I 'cased' this card idea from our latest magazine. I made the button using 4 layers of black c/s and crystal effects are on top. I stamped a bunch of images from 'Define your Life' stamp set and them punched them out using my scallop circle punch.

Thanks for dropping by,

Bride & Groom DSP

Hi again, thanks for stopping by!
Here is a total case I did for my club this month. I loved the whole look of this card. I did suggest the club ladies put their butterflies where they wanted, plus some ladies sponged Rich Razzleberry ink as well as Barely Banana as well...(kinda like my previous card I shared on here with the yellow/pink combo? I love how you can change the Bride and Groom paper to suit what ever colour you need! Can you say 'versatile'!

As always, happy stampin'

Thrift store find

Hi there!
Well its the end of the month so its time to share what my club ladies made this month.

The ladies punched 5 flowers out of some old Nursury Rhyme books that I owned and also bought at the local thrift store. It was neat as each card had a different look, depending on the pages used. I love the corduroy brads too! The Medallion stamp is inked in versamark for a subtle look.
Happy stamping,
Kerry

Palm Springs

As promised here are a few pictures of our recent trip to Palm Springs....hard to beleive just a week ago right now I was laying in the sun....actually its not so bad as its a gorgeous day here in BC. It was a bit disappointing the weather this year there in CA. Only reached the mid 70's and most days there was such a strong, cool wind...brrrrr! My girls and hubby didn't mind as they stayed in the heated pool for hours but for little guy Jacob once his bathing suite was cold he liked to walk around in the wading pool and it was just to chilly most times. We still had a wonderful holiday thought. One day it poured rain so we went to the Children's Museum there. AWESOME! Also revisited the Living Desert and fed the giraffes....All in all a great family time and the kids did well on the drive. We put just over 3000 miles on our Nissan Quest!

Hope you're having a fabulous day!

i'm back

Happy March everyone!

Its been awhile....The kids went back to school today after having 2 weeks off. We decided to drive to Palm Springs this year which was a first for us as last year we flew there. I was hesitant but all in all in went really well!!! I will share some photo's next post after I upload them. We only got back a day and a half ago so lots of catching up to do!

I just wanted to share the 2 club projects we made in February. I used quite a bit of Ocassions Mini catalog product.

The red and pink card showcases the rock n' roll technique which was new to some of my new stampers in my clubs. And the other card uses the wheel to make a background. I just put a piece of rectangle c/s in the middle and wheeled over. Before removing the piece of c/s I sponged the edges in the matching ink. (in this case, old olive) When you lift the centre c/s you are left with a crisp, white matt which you can stamp directly on, or in the case of this card I created we put a double matt over it.

If you ever have any questions please feel free to ask away.

Look forward to sharing more soon! Thanks for dropping by!

Olympic good times

hi,
It has been very cool to catch the excitement as the Olympics fast approaches! Tonight is opening ceremonies and for sure my girls and I are watching them on tv. We had the great experience this past Sunday to have the torch go near our house. We also have the Russian Figure Skating practicing at our local ice rink. After swimming lessons we always check them out. It is so amazing in real life to see the triple axles! Here are a few pic's I took that Sunday afternoon. The girls school is really getting into it to with Opening ceremonies on monday, a Winter Sports day and lastly a Closing Ceremonies in 2 weeks. What a great experience that the girls will hopefully always remember! Go Canada!

my new Stampin' area!

Hello!

I'm so excited..I wanted to share with you where my club ladies are going to be stamping tonight! This has been something we've toyed around with for ages...after having my stamping events in our basement suite in November it really made me love having my events out of my kitchen - family area. Our suite was rented in December though so back up to our kitchen for January.....I got to thinking that we really don't use our basement much....old tv, barbies, excersice equipment gathering dust LOL....so my friend Rosella and I last friday moved everything around and Voila...my new stamping area was born! I'm so happy as I was able to set up today while Jake is napping. Plus my kiddies/husband won't be in a mad rush to eat dinner and get the kitchen all ready for stamping.
I was able to borrow some chairs and tables. I put a few things up but will make it more homey/crafty as time goes on.

What do you think?

Happy Stamping!
Kerry
